These terms cover using RainbowReporter ("the App," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the App as a guest, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
What RainbowReporter Does
The App estimates how likely you are to see a rainbow based on local weather and the sun's position, and lets you report and browse rainbow sightings shared by other users. These estimates and reports are provided for informational and fun purposes only. Weather is unpredictable, and we can't guarantee a prediction is accurate or that a reported sighting is real, still visible, or safe to go looking for. Use your own judgment, especially around driving, weather hazards, or unfamiliar locations.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use RainbowReporter, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
Accounts
You can use the App as a guest, or create an account with an email address to submit reports and pick a username. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Give us accurate information when you sign up, and don't create an account on someone else's behalf without their permission.
Content You Post
When you submit a rainbow report, any note, photo, and username attached to it, you still own that content, but you're giving us permission to store it and show it to other users of the App. That's the whole point of the App: sharing sightings with people nearby. Don't post anything you don't want visible to other users.
You agree not to post content that:
- Is illegal, or infringes someone else's rights (including copyright)
- Is a fake or intentionally misleading rainbow report
- Harasses, threatens, or bullies another person
- Is hateful, discriminatory, or targets someone's race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or similar characteristic
- Is sexually explicit or pornographic
- Depicts graphic violence or real harm to people or animals
- Is spam, or unrelated to rainbow sightings
If you see content like this in the App, tap "Report" on that sighting, or email contact@rainbowreporter.app directly, with a description of the issue. We review every report and may remove any content that violates these terms, and suspend or terminate accounts that post it repeatedly or egregiously, without notice. You can also tap "Block" on a sighting to stop seeing that user's content (and them yours) without waiting on a review.
Account Termination
You can delete your own account at any time from the Profile screen's "Delete Account" button, which permanently removes your profile and every report you've submitted. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Availability of the App
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice. We may also delete any data, including reports and account information, at any time. We aren't liable to you for any such change, suspension, discontinuation, or deletion.
No Warranty
The App is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that rainbow predictions or other users' reports are accurate.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including anything that happens while you're out looking for a rainbow.
Third-Party Services
The App relies on outside services, including OpenWeatherMap for weather data, which we don't control and aren't responsible for the accuracy of. See our Privacy Policy for the full list.
Changes to These Terms
If we update these terms, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the update.
